Boosting Sales with a Festive Retail Campaign
Buff City Soap needed to boost sales during a typically sluggish spring quarter by creating buzz around two key seasonal moments: spring break and St. Patrick’s Day. To drive foot traffic and attract a broad customer base—including budget-conscious shoppers—the brand developed an irresistible promotion: the chance to win free laundry soap for a year. This high-value incentive not only sparked excitement but also made the campaign accessible to diverse demographics, turning a slow sales period into an opportunity for engagement and growth.

Deliverables
A full-scale visual campaign spotlighting Mystery Boxes as a central engagement tool, featuring a grand prize of free laundry soap for a year to drive excitement and foot traffic. Other items included a co-directed promotional video, in-store signage for 200+ locations, and themed apparel for staff.

Final co-directed video was shot and edited by Kyle Mason.
Design & Creative Approach
Theme Inspiration: Drew inspiration from St. Patrick’s Day imagery, pots of gold and light, to create a sense of excitement and anticipation around the giveaway.
Giveaway Card Design: Designed a giveaway card resembling a golden ticket, which was included in the mystery boxes to evoke the thrill of winning.
Soap Maker Apparel: Incorporated the mystery box iconography and golden ticket design into the soap maker uniforms, further tying the campaign’s visual elements together.
Promo Video: In addition to designing the campaign, I also developed a promotional video concept for our social media outreach. With the assistance of Buff City Soap’s videographer, Kyle Mason, we co-directed on-site, guiding actors to emulate the customer experience during the campaign.




The Outcome
The campaign delivered measurable success on multiple fronts, driving significant sales growth for the new Mystery Boxes and boosting revenue during a traditionally slow quarter. Franchise owners were so impressed with the results that they actively requested future Mystery Box promotions, signaling strong confidence in the initiative. Additionally, the marketing team received widespread recognition for their strategic execution, with vocal praise from leadership and franchise partners alike—underscoring the campaign’s effectiveness in engaging customers and supporting business goals.
